Project: Gran Hotel Meliá Colón

Location: Seville, Spain
Date: 2021
Scope: Common areas
The Gran Hotel Meliá Colón Seville — a historic refuge for bullfighters and key figures of Spanish culture — has reclaimed the essence of Sevillian luxury that once placed it among the world’s finest hotels back in 1929.
For this bespoke hospitality project, Bagon Contract was responsible for the manufacture of the custom furniture for the common areas, combining craftsmanship, premium finishes and a deep respect for the building’s heritage value.
Design, tradition and contemporary craftsmanship
Beneath the hotel’s iconic dome stands one of the most representative elements of the project: the bar clad in handcrafted ceramic tiles by Sevillian ceramist Isabel Parente. This striking piece dialogues seamlessly with the bespoke furniture designed and manufactured by Bagon Contract, blending naturally into a space steeped in history.
Meanwhile, the restaurant areas, the monumental shelving in the lobby and reception, the main counter, the bar and upholstered wall of the traditional abacería, as well as sofas, side tables and other singular elements, all form part of this fully customized contract furniture project.

Noble materials and common areas with identity
The bar combines natural wood, polished metal, mirrors and handcrafted ceramics, enhancing the colors of the dome and creating a refined, elegant atmosphere. Throughout the hotel, shades of green, blue and ochre flow harmoniously — especially in this iconic area, which was carefully preserved and enhanced.
At the same time, the large backlit shelving that welcomes guests extends across much of the lobby. In addition to showcasing traditional bullfighting costumes and symbolic Sevillian elements, it also serves as a functional workspace for the reception team.
Furthermore, the large windows framed between the shelving modules allow natural light to flood the interior, connecting the space with the surrounding greenery and reinforcing the balance between architecture, design and environment.

A contract furniture project with historical character
Beneath the dome, an upholstered velvet wall forms the backdrop to the bar area. The beverage space is arranged with elevated benches, high stools and auxiliary tables. Golden finishes, marble-inspired surfaces and warm ochre tones enhance the luxurious character of this setting — a space designed to be enjoyed slowly and experienced fully.
