Project: Hotel Caro
Location: Valencia. Spain.
Date: 2026
Elements: Rooms and common areas
In the Seu-Xerea district, a few steps from Valencia Cathedral, the former palace of the Marquis of Caro is today one of the most distinctive hotels in Spain. The building dates from the 19th century, but its real value lies in what it holds inside: stretches of the Arab wall, Gothic arches and archaeological remains going back to Roman times, including a 2nd-century mosaic. It is Valencia’s only monument hotel, and walking through it feels like strolling through a living museum.
Turning it into a luxury hotel required a vision able to converse with twenty centuries of history without competing with them. That vision belonged to interior designer Francesc Rifé, a recipient of the FAD Interior Design Award, who opted for a sober, minimalist design with clean lines and restrained colours that leaves all the spotlight to the original architecture. The hotel has also been awarded the Michelin Key.

A hotel conceived almost as a museum
At Caro Hotel, furniture cannot be a mere afterthought. If the building works like a collection of historic pieces, the furniture must behave like the discreet support that accompanies them: present, elegant and quiet. That philosophy gave us a project that was artistically stimulating and technically demanding.
We made the custom furniture for all the guest rooms, crafted in high-quality natural wood veneer and fitted in meticulous detail to the designs of Francesc Rifé Studio.

Precision as a form of respect
When the design is minimalist, there is nowhere to hide a mistake. A crooked line, an open joint or a piece that doesn’t fit exactly is spotted at once. That is why the project demanded an extreme level of precision:
High-quality natural veneer, selected and worked to preserve the grain and warmth of the wood.
Premium finishes, worthy of a luxury hotel, where every surface is touched, looked at and lived with up close.
Millimetre-precise grooving, with clean, aligned grooves that are part of the design’s visual language.
Dimensions square to the millimetre, essential for each piece to fit in historic walls and rooms that are rarely perfectly regular.

Installation that respects the heritage
Installing furniture beside archaeological elements, historic walls and protected rooms demands a calm approach. Our team carried out a careful, heritage-sensitive installation, with the gentle handling required in a space where every surface is part of the city’s heritage. The priority was always for each piece to blend into the room without damaging anything around it.
When furniture becomes part of the work
Taking part in Caro Hotel let us work under a leading design studio in a building with an extraordinary history. The result is furniture that supports the museum concept: it doesn’t demand attention, but its quality shows in every line, every joint and every finish.
This project joins other landmark work we have carried out, such as Hotel Port Benidorm, Hotel Los Felices and Hotel Idou Anfa.
